Bugzilla – Bug 2708
Add a record feature to internet streams
Last modified: 2011-11-06 23:24:38 UTC
A number of software packages allow one to record streams of internet radio to the hard disk. However, I've found them a pain to use because I'm typically away from the computer listening to the radio when something interesting comes on. It would be great to have a record feature on the Squeezebox and Slimserver---click a button on the remote and SlimServer starts writing the current audio stream to disk including breaking the stream into individual tracks, writing appropriate ID3 tags with stream metadata, etc. Perhaps this could be done with both Shoutcast and the Realaudio streams provided by AlienBBC. A small buffer could be used to provide time-machine recording into the immediate past. http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/ is an opensource GPL audio stream ripper backend. Would it be possible to hook it up to SlimServer?

I know that this one has been out a while. Is it still in the pipeline? Many thanks, Jaap
Dean doesn't work here any more :)
