As a further test I downloaded SlimCD and used this to install Slimserver on a different PC. I then reparented my Squeezebox onto this machine. It stll refused to properly play the first attachment (I can't get enough by Bad Company). This track played perfectly on Softsqueeze on the "SlimCD" PC. The squeeze box could however play the second attachment (Ironic bt Alanis Morissette). I reparented the Squeezebox back on to my normal PC running 6.1.1 and it played both tracks (Once it had reflashed itself).

All help and advice welcome, other than comments on my taste in music! :-)

01 Suite Sudarmoricaine.mp3 by Alan Stivel. This file although ripped at 192kbp from allofmp3.com also fails. So it does not seem to be my ripping that is causing the problem. Strange that I am the only one reporting a bug.

looks like this is related to replaygain, and turning off replaygain in player settings -> audio makes the issue go away. that should be the workaround for now...

marking as a duplicate of 2581 but we do need to fix this.
