Description Alex 2005-11-12 20:03:14 UTC
The "Common Album Titles" groupings are enabled by default. The only way to "disable" (correct) all of its entiries, is to list all of the "incorrect" album titles. (So far, this feature has not gotten any of the albums right for me.)

Rather than force a setting on a user, and then provide an exclusion list to correct, this feature should be optional.

Can a check box be added to make the grouping optional?

Umm.. the grouping is optional and off by default.

should this be closed off then?

Not really since it can't be done. (Sorry, as far as I can see.) There's a similar discussion for bug 2545.

The Common Album Titles hack has gone away.

Dan,

Can you please explain the new functionality, or perhaps point me to the right wiki writeup on the new functionality?

Thanks.

Alex - the functionality is now:

If all tracks for an album are in their own directory, the logic will determine if the album is new (and should be created) based on the artist & directory. If the album is a compilation album (and marked as such), it will use that, and not the artist to determine if the album is new.

IE: It should just work.
