Description Alex 2005-11-12 19:57:29 UTC
For a large (50+) "Common Album Titles" list, it is difficult to navigate through all of the different entries due to the possible (real) randomness of entries.

An "Alphabetize Entries" check box would streamline the data management of large lists. It should automatically alphabetize the entries after a "Change" commit.

Alex - do you actually need an list that large? Handling of common album titles has been improved recently.

Try turning it off, and doing a rescan..

Sorry, but I have missed that. How do you turn it off? As far as I can see, you only provide "Specifiy a list of Common Album Titles" check box to enable the exclusion.

uncheck the preference for "Specifiy a list of Common Album Titles"
and do a wipe/rescan. many groupings should be determined automatically. Then you should only need to specify a few exceptions, and re-enable the preference.

You're right, unchecking and wipe/rescan causes the grouping without processing the exceptions.

I believe the initial suggestion was to turn off the grouping, as a way to omit the large list management problem. This does not turn off the grouping. It just disables the exceptions. The original problem is now worse, given that many albums are grouped incorrectly.

And, how would one specify the exceptions to turn it off, if the section is unchecked? Sorry. I'm confused.

The Common Album Titles hack has gone away.
