Description Matthew Bain 2005-10-29 07:02:09 UTC
Despite "List albums by band" being selected (and not "List albums for all
artists for that album") albums that contain a band name (TPE2)tag and a
different Artist name are being listed twice.

Once by "Artist name" and also by "band name" (also known as Album Artist or
TPE2) i.e.

Title Album Artist Album Artist
X&Y X&Y Coldplay; Matty Bain Coldplay

Would appear under both "Coldplay" and "Coldplay;Matty Bain" in the artist listing.

With the appropriate option selected this should appear under the band
name/album artist name of "Coldplay".

Can you please attach a file to this bug that exhibits the problem?

Thanks.
Comment 2 Dan Sully 2005-10-31 11:18:17 UTC
You also need to turn on 'Show Bands'
Comment 3 Matthew Bain 2005-11-01 06:24:36 UTC
I have uploaded 2 files one MP3 and one WMA, these are both tagged as follows

Track Track Artist Album Artist Type
Square one Coldplay; Matty Bain Coldplay MP3
Who do you.. Spice Girls; Matty Bain Spice Girls WMA

On the 31/10 Nightly I see the following behaviour

Show Bands / Orchestra No Yes Yes No
List albums by bands No No Yes Yes

Number of artist visible 3 4 4 3
No of artists s/d be vis 2 4 2 2

The 3 artists are Coldplay; Matty Bain, Spice Girls, Spice Girls; Matty Bain
The 4 artists are Coldplay + same as 3 artists

I think the uploads have crashed my computers settings, I will try again from
home and reduce their sizes from 10mb and 5mb to something a little more
managable.

Help, how do you attach files. It is complaining it is not the right type, I
just want to upload 1 mp3 and 1 wma files of 1mb and 800k.
Comment 6 KDF 2005-11-01 12:00:20 UTC

Comment 9 Dan Sully 2005-11-03 15:43:26 UTC
This is technically the same as bug 2317 - and isn't a trival change. Pushing off past 6.2.1
Comment 10 Dan Sully 2006-06-21 14:50:27 UTC
Matthew - did you have the setting to split artists set to ; ?

Thanks
Comment 11 Chris Owens 2007-10-16 09:27:29 UTC
QA to verify if this still happens.
Comment 12 Ross Levine 2007-12-03 16:32:32 UTC
Chris did you want this checked against 6.5.4? I tested and this is not a problem in 7.0.
Comment 13 Michael Herger 2007-12-21 04:23:47 UTC
Fixed in 7.0
