Playlist scanning does not appear to be working
If I "only rescan playlists", the playlist folder is not scanned (only the Music Folder)

Are you using any importer like iTunes, MusicIP or some of Erland's plugins? Might be related to bug 17639.

No importer plug-in's. Playlists are scanned when I "Clear Library and re-scan everything", but not when I scan "changed..." or "Only Playlists". Yes, looks like it may be related to bug 17639

I see exactly the same thing with 7.7.1 r33712 on Windows. No importers or 3rd party plugins. An 'Only rescan playlists' scans the media folders, not the playlists folder.
Comment 5 Jim McAtee 2011-11-17 08:18:46 UTC
A 'new & changed' scan also fails to scan the playlists folder. The only type of scan that does is a full 'clear & rescan'.

screenshot - Only rescan playlists

With two media folders (both music only) configured, this is what I see happening during an 'Only rescan playlists'. The media folders are scanned instead.

This is a serious bug ,I think it needs more priority.

here is why, if the user does not his have playlist inside the media directories path , he is not going to get any playlists at all scanned .

many users get their list scanned by accident because they are a sub-folder to their media , that's why anyone have playlists at all.
Comment 9 Mikael Nyberg 2011-11-18 01:00:42 UTC
And it is not MAC OS only I'm on Linux and Jim uses some Windows version if I'm not wrong, so it can be assumed to happen on all platforms.

See my comment #4.

Are you saying that you're unable to reproduce this bug?

Bug: 17731
Description: only scan playlist folder if a playlist scan is desired.
Comment 13 Jim McAtee 2011-11-18 08:44:45 UTC
Ok. That fixes where an 'Only rescan playlists' looks.

I still see a couple of problems. Perhaps they're different bugs, but here they are:

- A 'new & changed' scan does not do a playlist scan of the playlists folder.

- An 'only rescan playlists' scan fails to remove deleted playlists.
Comment 14 Jim McAtee 2011-11-18 20:44:00 UTC
With respect to the two scanning problems mentioned in the previous post:

- Both exist in 7.6.2, so they aren't new.

- Both work correctly in 7.5.6.

Thanks!

Yes, please do submit new bug reports for these two issues. They're unrelated and must be dealt with in a different place.

Verification passed on 7.7.1 r33735, able to scan the playlist window, mac and ubuntu.
