Description Jason Snell 2005-06-25 09:21:55 UTC
Running 6.1 nightlies (verified in 6/25 but it was present before that), browsing within an artist to an
album that's a compilation (or, in any event, contains songs by multiple artists) displays all the songs
on that compilation, rather than just the songs that are by the artist we've entered.

Example:

Browse Artists -> Steve Winwood -> Driving Rock -> entire contents of that compilation, rather than
the single track by the specific artist

Browse Artists -> Stray Cats -> Like Omigod! The Totally 80s Boxed Set -> entire contents, etc.

However, pressing PLAY when at that artist's name or the album name only plays that artist's track. So
that behavior is correct, but the browsing behavior is incorrect.

this seems to have been the result of query optimisation at change 3388
performance vs precision
Comment 2 Vidur Apparao 2005-06-30 13:59:31 UTC
There is a preference to change the behavior...Dan to provide more details.
Comment 3 Blackketter Dean 2005-07-05 15:07:03 UTC
The browsing behavior should match the songs that are queued when pressing PLAY or ADD.
Comment 4 KDF 2005-07-05 15:41:44 UTC
related to bug 1695, refer there for the right option to choose since wording is
very similar for both option.
Comment 5 KDF 2005-07-06 01:13:58 UTC
jason, try out the new pref (with hopefully more helpful wording) in
settings->behavior for filter genre. This will either fix, or at least narrow
the problem down.
Comment 6 KDF 2005-07-07 21:30:03 UTC
this appears fixed. Server settings->behavior, Filter genres at the album &
track level.
Choose Show Any... and browse artist->artist->compilation album lists all tracks.
Choose Only Show... then browse artist->artist->compilation, lists on the tracks
by that artist on the album.

Please reopen if you have any troubles with this.

This bug was marked resolved in Slimserver 6.1, which is several versions ago. If you're still seeing this bug, please re-open it. Thanks!
