Description Julius Friede 2005-06-19 23:11:47 UTC
I have tried the 6/18 and 6/19 builds of v6.1.x and the behavior is no
different. It would be nice if, when Browsing by Genre, the albums under an
Artist were those only tagged as matching the selected Genre, not all albums by
the Artist. It is fine if this behavior is set via a preference in the SlimServer.

the next nightly. Thanks!

Fix commited as subversion change 3571.

There is now a preference under the Settings-> Behavior menu.
Comment 2 Julius Friede 2005-06-28 21:58:55 UTC
I downloaded the v6.1 6/28 nightly (.dmg), and although the preference is there
and selected to filter by genre, all items by artist are still displayed. The
behavior hasnt changed. I tried rescanning my library to see if that made any
difference, but it did not. I also restarted my computer. I am running OS X 10.3.9.
Comment 3 Julius Friede 2005-07-01 07:56:07 UTC
After downloading each nightly through the 7/1 release, i now see what the
problem is. There is a wording problem in the selections (as I see it): Show
any tracks or albums matching the selected genre for an artist does what I
wished the feature to do - only show the filtered results. Only show tracks or
albums matching the selected genre for an artist doesnt filter the results,
but I read it as the expected outcome of the other choice. Maybe a rewording is
necessary?

Anyway, thanks for bringing back this behavior.

Julius

The confusion seems to be that the two strings are saying the same thing for
opposite functions.

BAD:
SETUP_NOGENREFILTER_1
EN	Only show tracks & albums matching the selected genre for an artist

SETUP_NOGENREFILTER_0
EN	Show any tracks or albums matching the selected genre for an artist

GOOD:
SETUP_NOGENREFILTER_1
EN	Show any tracks & albums for an artist

SETUP_NOGENREFILTER_0
EN	Only show tracks or albums matching the selected genre for an artist

can be assigned to me if you want this committed. can still leave it open if we
want to deal with a 'nicer' fix of some kind later.
