Bugzilla – Bug 16439
Power down conditions cause boot issue.
Last modified: 2010-09-16 13:36:39 UTC
9023 msp version 1322 Power down conditions cause boot issue. When a unit is on AC and Battery power turned off and then first AC power is removed then the battery is removed some units can get into a state where on subsequent power up it will not boot unless the power button is pressed and held. This condition is frequently occurring as a result of running the factory test and so would affect the results on the production line at the down stream tests, where units would not boot up normally.
Can you provide step-by-step instructions for reproduction?
yes. So with a unit powered on with a battery installed Press the power button to turn it off. Remove AC power then remove the battery. Some but not all units will then get into the no boot mode when AC is reapplied. This can be overridden by holding the power button. It will not happen to all units as there is a ceratin amount of randomness going on. It happened to several units running the factory test they would pass normally the first time through but on retest they were stuck.
