If I am playing a track, and leave the player untouched for 30 secs for Music Information Screen to display, and then try to rotate the knob to see the next song in the playlist, it skips forward to play the next track.

does this happen with one of the default screensavers too?

I changed my Now Playing screensaver from MIS to a variety of other screensavers, and don't experience the problem.

I guess I have some homework to do... There's another probably related bug, where IR commands are mis-interpreted whily MIS is running (see bug 15366)

What's your "Jump back..." option set to (in the MIS settings)?

Playing local music.
Jump back on wake=Off.

Not the same symptom, but the same underlying issue as bug 15366.
