Bugzilla – Bug 14948
No alarm menu shown with Last.fm as alarm after several hours (soft) off
Last modified: 2009-11-02 13:44:38 UTC
When Last.fm ("My recommendations") via MySqueezebox.com is used for an alarm, no alarm menu is shown if the Radio was in standby (soft off) mode for several hours. Since this is the typical wakeup scenario of course, this happens _every_ morning for me. It doesn't happen if I program a new test alarm a little later to reproduce the behavior though. Also, while the alarm is played at the correct time (which indicated that there are no network problems), most of the times it stops after some minutes even though the alarm period is set to e.g. 45 minutes. Most of the times, the clock screensaver is shown when the alarm happens. When pushing the knob, the radio displays the main menu. Sometimes it also displays the main menu directly. Usually the main menu is accessible, but at least a few times the menu was frozen and I needed to push the left/back button to be able to move the cursor again. Could be that this was before the update to r7915 though. Anyway, the only way to display the alarm menu is to manually select "Last.fm" in the menu. Then the Radio says it connects to MySqueezebox.com and after this it displays the alarm menu and behaves normally. So it seems that after some hours in soft off (standby), the Radio looses its connection to either MySqueezebox.com or Last.fm or probably it only _thinks_ it lost the connection. Else it would be hard to explain that it actually plays Last.fm without having a connection. Happens with r7915 and happened with the version before.
Which firmware version is on your SB Radio Does this same error happen when any other source is set as the alarm?
Firmware is r7915, happened with the previous firmware, too. I think it didn't happen with normal internet radio yet. Then again, testing depth is obviously pretty low (once per day so to say). I'll try a normal station tomorrow.
Ok, this morning the very same occured with a normal Internet radio station: at the programmed time, the radio started playing, displayed the main menu for about a second, then the clock screen saver again. Connecting to MySB.com manually (by selecting Last.fm in the menu) brought up the alarm dialog. So this is probably not related to Last.fm, but a general issue with connection to MySB.com. Obviously the Radio looses the connection to MySB.com and isn't able to reconnect automatically for some reason, although reconnection works as soon as a menu item is used that forces a reconnect. As a side note, as most private users in Europe, I have a dynamic IP address. At least once per day my VDSL modem/router reconnects and gets a new IP address. Dunno if this is related, but the Radio should be able to reconnect to MySB automatically even if the IP address changed.
Felix will investigate
This looks strongly like the same or similar issue as bug 14481 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 14481 ***
I'm not really convinced that this is a duplicate of Bug 14481. After all, streaming DOES work in my case, just the connection to MySB.com is obviously lost and the Radio doesn't even try to reconnect until I select e.g. Last.fm. As a side note: pressing the alarm button doesn't work and the Radio doesn't try to connect to MySB.com.
