Description Julius Friede 2005-05-01 18:15:51 UTC
When I try to access my library via the Slim Devices remote, my wired SB is very
sluggish and frequently loses connection with the server. When I go to the web
interface, music plays fine and there is no problem accessing music. I am
running OSX 10.3.9 (all OS and apps are current) and the 5/1/05 6.0.3 server
release. This was also a problem with earlier 6.0.x releases. Version 5.1.4
doesnt exhibit this problem. FWIW, I am having numerous problems with a variety
of v6.0.x releases, and I am puzzled as to why three public releases have
appeared and there are this many quirks. This was not my experience with the 5.x
releases. If there is anything you would like me to check, I would be more than
willing to comply.

Hi Julius. Can you be a little more descriptive about the sluggishness? Also, please describe your setup
(hardware, operating system, network). This isn't something that we're seeing, so more details will help
us reproduce it.

My system is fairly straightforward: G4 AGP Sawtooth/2GHz Giga Designs CPU, OSX
10.3.9 with current security and Java updates, 896 MB Ram, iTunes 4.7.1,
connected to an SMC router and the Squeezebox w/Graphic display wired to the
router. I also have two other graphic display Squeezeboxes and a Slimp3 on the
network as wireless devices, one with built in wireless, the others using
wireless to ethernet adapters. When I start the navigation via the Slim remote
(to the wired SB) all works smoothly from now playing->browse
genre->genre->artist. Here is where the problems begin. When I try to get to the
albums under artist, the display scrolls about half way and stops. Some seconds
later I get the lost connection message and the display goes dark. When the
display returns and I try again, the same thing happens. I go to the web
interface, select album via the same path, and music plays from the SB. I
attempt to change albums via the remote and the problem repeats. From the web
interface, no problem. Sometimes after the lost connection I am able to play
music via the remote, but not always. This behavior has not been limited to a
single release, but happens in varying degrees with all v6.0.x releases through
th 4/30/05 release. Reverting to the SlimServer_5_4_x_v2005-03-12.dmg release,
which was the last release I downloaded that didnt hog my processor, shows no
problem whatsoever and performs flawlessly. This is what I reverted to until I
get a v6.0.x release that works as well.

If I have left any information out that you would like, please let me know.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Regards,
Julius

I believe that this is a dup.

This bug was marked resolved in Slimserver 6.1, which is several versions ago. If you're still seeing this bug, please re-open it. Thanks!
