Bugzilla – Bug 14599
Control Panel Opens When Starting Squeezebox Server
Last modified: 2009-10-23 00:34:55 UTC
There is no option to prevent the control panel from opening when starting the Squeezebox Server
How do you start it?
I've turned off the automatic startup and thus I start it using the "Squeezebox Server" link. When using version 7.3.3, the web interface would open. Now instead, the control panel opens. --- On Tue, 10/6/09, bugs@bugs.slimdevices.com <bugs@bugs.slimdevices.com> wrote: From: bugs@bugs.slimdevices.com <bugs@bugs.slimdevices.com> Subject: [Bug 14599] Control Panel Opens When Starting Squeezebox Server To: hokehan@yahoo.com Date: Tuesday, October 6, 2009, 7:25 AM https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14599 --- Comment #1 from Michael Herger <michael@slimdevices.com> 2009-10-06 04:25:34 PDT --- How do you start it?

Ok, I didn't think about the desktop icon. I never use them :-) Will investigate.
== Auto-comment from SVN commit #28797 to the slim repo by michael == == https://svn.slimdevices.com/slim?view=revision&revision=28797 == Fixed Bug: 14599 +0.5 Description: Never start the control panel automatically when starting the tray icon. Only on double-click, when selected from the menu, or at the end of the installer (which is handled by the installer)
verified fix with SBS r28848 This does seem to lead to a new problem. When double clicking on the desktop icon "Squeezebox Server" the tray icon will open but it will not open the web interface. Marking bug as verified because the bug is for the Control Panel to not open up.
Wait, wait. This fix in fact breaks the correct behavior of the desktop icon. Double-clicking the desktop icon is supposed to open the Control Panel. This was a deliberate change from 7.3.3. I interpret the original bug as "the control panel should not open on _starting_ the server" which is quite different.
I think this report refers to starting the server double clicking the desktop icon. It historically used to start the server, then open up the web UI. We probably need to redefine the behaviour and existence of our many ways to start/open something (desktop, start menu, tray icon). But that's a different issue or task. For now I'm going to revert my change and re-assign this to Matt for review in the next release.

The remaining issue is covered by bug 14776
This bug has been marked as fixed in the 7.4.1 release version of SqueezeBox Server! Please see the Release Notes for all the details: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Release_Notes If you haven't already, please download and install the new version from http://www.logitechsqueezebox.com/support/download-squeezebox-server.html If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
this is insanity. nothing is fixed, nothing. slimtray starts with windows ANYWAY, why should a desktop shortcut icon open slimtray? or control panel? the desktop shortcut should start SBS if it isn't already started and open the webui. period. anything else is just dopey, and confusing as hell to the uninitiated.
