Description Ritchie Argue 2009-10-03 13:19:43 UTC
Not sure if this is a bug somewhere or a warranty request, but I thought I'd check here first. Of the five Controllers I maintain, one has an extremely dim screen. I've tried resetting to factory defaults, but that didn't seem to change anything. See attached image of three of the controllers on the brightness screen, indicating the brightness cranked to the top for all three. The controller on the right is equivalent in brightness at its highest setting to the others at their lowest setting.

The button backlights seem fine, and the screen dimming does make it go dimmer.

FWIW the sticker info for the dim controller is:

M/N: C-RL65
P/N: 830-000019
PID: LZ815A1
MAC: 00:04:20:1A:4F:8A

This problem exhibited itself on 7.3.3, and upgrading to 7.4 (r7790) didn't seem to help.

Is there anything else I should try here?

This is likely a support question.

James, I don't think this is a dupe of bug 13278. I looked at that one before filing this.

In the attached photo there are three controllers, all running the same default 7.4 jive skin. There is a marked difference between the dim controller and the other two, given identical content (skin or album artwork or otherwise).

This problem existed prior to updating to 7.4, so it is not restricted to the skin or any other changes in the 7.4 update.
