Description Nick Ryman-Tubb 2005-04-11 08:09:44 UTC
Firmware Version 40.

Squeezebox: original character version

The lastest firmware leaves the S/PDIF enable signal (pin 11 - the "geek
connector") turned on.

On the SB, if I power on the mains the signal is off. I can browse to music
and then play and the signal then comes on - as it should. However, stopping
the music or using "power" on the remote to turn off the SB, the signal
remains on.

This has happened on a previous release of the firware and had to be corrected
in the following release and seems to be back again?

Oddly, the "graphics" version of SqueezeBox, which I also have, does not seem
to suffer from the same problem and correctly turns off the signal when the
music is stopped.

Can someone check out the firware and make sure that S/PDIF enable signal is
always turned OFF on STOP and in all cases when "power off" is selected?

Thanks for help!

Nick

I have a Squeezebox Graphics version connected to a Benchmark DAC-1.
When I power on SBG, the red 'Error' LED on the DAC-1 is on until I play some
music. I assume this is because the s/pdif out on SBG is inactive. When I stop
playing music, and also if I turn the SBG off, the LED on the DAC-1 is still
off. I assume this is because the s/pdif on SBG is still active. To me it
therefore looks like this issue also applies to the graphics version of
Squeezebox 1.

According to bug 1397 it also looks like the same problem applies to Squeezebox 2.

Sean, what's the deal here?

I should add that my finding applies to the optical out. I haven't tested the
coax out yet.

as this is the same summary, same reporter, can this be merged with bug 2401 to help avoid dividing the issues? It seems bug 1397 covers SB2 on this issue, so it certainly seems to be clutter to have two of these for SB1

merging bugs, as 2401 is essentially the continuation of this one.
