Bugzilla – Bug 13449
Song time remaining incorrect
Last modified: 2009-10-05 14:29:56 UTC
I was playing a long track which is 31:50 long, according to Mp3Tag and Foobar2000. On the Fab4, I noticed that when it got close to the end of the track, the time remaining flipped to something like 59:59, played a few extra seconds, and then got to the end and stopped. The Song Time was then showing 31:11, with -0:00 remaining. So there's a discrepancy in song length. I set the track progress to 1 min from the end to watch it go through again, and it stopped at exactly 31:11. Weird. Where am I losing 39 seconds!
feels closely related to Bug 12818
Phil - what length do you see in SC? No SP issue if the scanner was wrong.
Squeezebox Server web UI song info page reports 31:11. SBT Now Playing screen reports 31:11. Foobar2000, Mp3Tag and iTunes report 31:50. So, I guess it's a scanner issue then?
Would you mind uploading that file?
Yep I need to see the file.
Ping Phil for a file.
Hmmm, I added a comment last week to say that I tried to upload the file but it was too big. I've had a couple of cases now in Bugzilla where my comments seem to have gone missing.
OK sorry about that, is there any other way you can get me the file? yousendit?
I've hosted it in a Torrent server on my PC, and set up port forwarding. Hopefully the following will work, if you want to download it: http://hergest.demon.co.uk:6969/torrents/Mountain%20-%20Twin%20Peaks%20-%2005%20-%20Nantucket%20Sleigh%20Ride%20%5BLive%5D.mp3.torrent?151E1CF2A696029F7A317CD3E96A58A6813D6D37 Let me know when you've got it, or if you have problems.
Thanks, but I can't seem to download it. Are you sure that's easier than yousendit or similar? :)
My internet connection has been playing up for the last few days. Someone seems to be downloading it okay now!
Oh, there it goes, thanks. :)
OK, the problem is this file is a poorly encoded VBR file with no VBR header data to help determine the bitrate or duration of the file. We don't do as good a job of getting the bitrate/duration correct as other programs do I guess.
Oh wait, it's actually 192k CBR, not VBR, I need to see why we think it's VBR.
== Auto-comment from SVN commit #428 to the opensource repo by andy == == https://svn.slimdevices.com/opensource?view=revision&revision=428 == Fixed bug 13449, what started off as a bugfix to average MP3 bitrate calculation turned into a buffering bug fix (a full buffer was created when reading a file that was smaller)
