Description BastiaanR 2009-08-06 09:04:02 UTC
Every time I look at the FLICKR screensaver I've wondered why there's not something similar offered to display a slideshow screensaver for pictures stored locally, on a PC or NAS.

Today I received exactly this enhancement request from a customer, so i decided to add it to the bugtracker.

Would be a wery nice feature to have the slideshow from a local PC/NAS where the music is stored too. Together with an option to rotate the display automatically this would be great !!
Looking forvard to theese features.

Lukas: Isn't this something you are already working on? feel free to mark as a duplicate if needed.

The feature for rotating the images is already implemented.

Currently, Image Viewer allows three types of sources for images:

- pull images from Flickr
- load images from the web by reading an image list from a http url
- read the images from a local device such as an SD card

this is an administrative shuffle on priority fields to help make better judgment on the top end of the priority list. P4->P5, P3->P4, and P2->P3.

I was the one to make the request as mentionned by BastianR.
I do not find the Image Viewer in version 7.4.1 as said by Lucas Frey, nor in the planned future versions ( beta ), and I do not see this function implemented for PC, NAS or locally use. The same goes for rotating the picture. Bug 9837 is regarding rotating the display, and seems unsolved and not implemented.

Hi

The features you mentioned have been implemented, but it seems that not all code made it into the final release version.

I will check with the Slimdevices guys whether we can get it into the next firmware.

Please note that most of the ImageViewer options have been disabled on Radio/Controller. I'm looking into re-enabling them if sensible.

Using a web list of images might help you get started with your NAS: if it has a web server built in, make it return a simple list of image urls to show. Like eg. http://www.herger.net/sbimages/sbradio.lst. These urls could point to your local NAS, of course.

As for rotation: ImageViewer currently can't read EXIF data to decide whether an image is portrait or landscape mode. See bug 15367.

Displaying Photos onto SB Radio or Touch from a directory on the NAS, PC or MAC hosting Squeezebox Server would be great. I can only achieve this through online photo shares (FLICKR).

http://www.herger.net/Gallery - might help bridge the waiting time... Please don't follow up on this plugin in this bug report, but use the 3rd party plugin section of the forums instead.

This is implemented in the upcoming Logitech Media Server (formerly known as Squeezebox Server) 7.7
