Description Kevin Pearsall 2005-04-06 15:45:08 UTC
would be nice to for instance:
- limit access to certain IPs so that they can only access certain players (the
infamous 'sacwac' bug, where my squeezebox spontaneously starts playing BERLIN
songs, causing me to malfunction and berate a certain hardware engineer)
- lock out server settings except to specific IPs

i'm sure other people could think of more reasons...

I wish to create 2 levels of Slim Server User. The standard Admin level like is
there now. And an additional user only level, that can connect a softsqueeze
player, listen to the library of music, but not be able to ammend or even see
the server side settings.

I wish to be able to control password protection by IP/Mac address. For example, I wish 192.168.* to be set as not password protected but all other addresses to be password protected. This so that players on my local LAN don't have to be bothered with logging in, but players outside the LAN do.

I agree with the other part of this enhancement request to have 2 user levels. Password protection control would be less of an issue if I could specify by IP/Mac address who are 'admins' (can see server settings) and who are 'users' (can only see and play music).

Having a different authentication method for LAN and Outsiters would be perfect. I was not able to find a Pocket PC application streaming MP3s that also supported the username and password prompt. It work perfectly with a Microsoft Windows based software (WinAMP, iTunes amongst others). Enabling a password protection for outsiders (of the LAN, i.e. Internet) would simplify the "client" configuration for my lan devices.

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
