Bugzilla – Bug 1320
make low volumes lower
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:11:48 UTC
customer requested (he has amplifiers that do not have gain adjustments): is there any way that you could consider making the built in volume control increase in smaller steps? When I connect it directly with my amps (with or without a DA-converter in between) I can only use volume step 1 and 2, which are quite loud, and indeed very annoyingly loud for the neighbours... :o) I haven't dared thinking how loud it will play if I turn it up to just 20 or 50 %??! (I probably wouldn't be writing this or indeed any mails anymore...).
I shudder to think what a cd player would do when hooked up to that amp :)

I don't think this is going to make it for 6.1.
Checked in server and firmware changes as change 4295 to improve resolution of volume adjustment and make the scale truly logarithmic. Lower volumes should be significantly lower. Will probably bump the firmware rev to 22 by the time the next nightly rolls around, but if you grab current svn, you may have to manually force a firmware upgrade.
awesome! it's a huge improvement for me.
