Bugzilla – Bug 12548
Screen needs to light up earlier during boot sequence
Last modified: 2010-05-27 14:20:13 UTC
Ideally, the splash screen would come up sooner, but having the screen light up white or grey would be a big improvement. Needs to work on baby and fab4.
Various fixes, ending with baby-mp 6719. It now takes about 2 seconds to display the logi logo. These changes also fix udev, saving 7 seconds from the overall boot time. Further improvements to get to the logo are possible: 1. turn on the framebuffer in the bootloader OR, 2. the bootloader relocates the kernel before executing it. the redboot stack could be moved, then the kernel could be loaded from flash at the correct address. 3. i think ubi attach could use sub-page reads, halving the time taken to attach. With 2/3 it may be possible to save another .5 seconds to the boot logo.
