Bugzilla – Bug 12467
Playlist button in upper right of Fab4 NP launches CM when playlist size = 1
Last modified: 2010-04-08 17:26:44 UTC
r6189. When playing music from My Music, with a single track in the playlist, the playlist button in the NP screen is disabled. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but there are a lot of things that can be done from the playlist that cannot be done from NP. Such as bringing up a context menu and navigating to the full album or to the artist.
Right Button Hold still brings up the current playlist, so it's not completely broken. But the NP/playlist toggling that is normally executed when the playlist contains multiple items no longer works on the NP screen.
This appears to function in r7096, can you please test in with that version? if you still see the issue, feel free to re-opoen the bug and provide reproduction steps
No, I don't see any evidence that it's fixed. 1. From My Music, browse to an album. 2. Touch the album to take you into the list of tracks for the album. 3. Using the Context Menu for tracks (touch and hold on a single track) select Play. - this will play the one track and your current playlist should consist of only a single item - you should then be in the Now Playing screen 4. Try using the the upper right button, which should take you to the Current playlist screen. But what I 6see is that it does nothing. Contrast the above with the following behavior when there is more than one track in the Current Playlist: 1. From My Music, browse to an album. 2. Touch the album to take you into the list of tracks for the album. 3. Touch the first track. - this should begin playing that track and also queue up all the remaining tracks in the album. - you should then be in the Now Playing screen 4. Try using the the upper right button, which should take you to the Current playlist screen.
I confirm what Jim said - it's not working in r7096. Play a single song or internet radio station, and the current playlist button does nothing but beep. I can't therefore browse to the now playing song.
Jim: thank you for the detailed report, now I understand what you are seeing.
Ben: is this one yours to look at?
With firmware r7275 what I now see is that when you have a single item playlist you get a context menu when you touch the right button. That can't be correct either.
James, Ben - If this is just a Fab4 bug, we need to defer until Baby is done. If not, lets change the target from 8.0 to 7.4 so we can track it.
I believe that launching a context menu is correct behavior from the upper right button for single track playlists, but the button needs restyling to a "+" symbol when only a single track is in the playlist. NP is going to get a pretty major overhaul on Fab4 between now and release, so this may end up being an invalid bug, but leaving it open for now.
I think it would be better if the button were to always bring up the playlist. There are actions on the playlist that cannot otherwise be accessed, such as Clear Playlist and Save Playlist. Also, people use right-flick from NP screen to get to the current playlist. This doesn't work if there's only one item in the playlist. It would be useful to get to Song Information/Context Menu for the track that is playing at any time, irrespective of whether it is the only song in the playlist. For a quick and consistent way of getting to the context menu, make the Now Playing song information touchable.
(In reply to comment #10) > I think it would be better if the button were to always bring up the playlist. > There are actions on the playlist that cannot otherwise be accessed, such as > Clear Playlist and Save Playlist. Exactly. A CM in this instance gains nothing - it only adds an unnecessary element of inconsistency to the ui.
Changing priorities due to management guidance.
This is a bug that should be fixed with r8515, which does a full window replace on playerTrackChange. The behavior described here where the button does nothing is indicative of what r8515 fixed. There will be a + button in the NP UI for single track playlists. That's a final decision.
This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release. If you are still seeing this issue, please let us know!
