Description Dave Cohen 2005-03-24 11:07:41 UTC
in the latest firmware, if you press and hold left to change your setup, you are
given to option to connect to a server the box already knows about. But, in
order to specify an ip address for another server, you must navigate through the
network setup again (i.e. get an ip address via DHCP, etc). It would be nice if
"specify IP address" were added to the list of servers.

Fixed in latest nightly firmware. Go into View Current Settings, scroll to server IP address and press
right.

I'd like to request that this bug be reopened. That setting is hard to find (assuming you even know it's there) and difficult to use, buried as it is under Current Settings.

Is there any chance that the option could be added to the topmost level?

I run multiple servers on one computer and find it extremely difficult to switch a player between servers. You can't select from the ones the player finds because the player freaks out and flips through all of them randomly.

The most direct route to doing this is to go through the whole network setup until you get to the last step, which is 'connect to a server'. At that step, the user is presented with a menu choice to directly enter the IP address of the server. It would be nice if the same option could appear at the top level.

I suggest that you open a bug to fix the freak-out so that it can discover all your local servers. That's the best and most correct solution...

Yeah, you're probably right. There's already bug 3592 addressing the other problem. I just need to _remember_ where this setting is, which I can never do.
