Ticket #090322-000855

***May be similar to bug 11411****

***Please review forum post below***

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=411966#post411966

Symptom:

From the Squeezebox Controller, if you play a full album, the "Now Playing" screen shows incorrect album tracks numbers. Also, if you try to add an album to the current playlist, it looks as though if it was added, but it does not play.

If the customer uses SqueezeNetwork web interface, playlists work fine, and they are displayed properly on the controller.

Environment:

Squeezebox Duet - wireless
LinkSys WRTT54G with firmare version 4.21.1
Only uses Rhapsody
Only uses SqueezeNetwork

Steps to Recreate the issue:

Play an album that has, say 12 tracks - the "now playing" screen shows, say 18 tracks. If you center click on the now playing screen you don't seem to see the whole list of tracks, and you can't scroll down to the usual "clear playlist" choice.

If you try to add an album to the current playlist, it behaves as tho it's added it - but it generally doesn't play the added album (similarly, if you go into shuffle song mode, you don't hear tracks from the added album.

Troubleshooting Done:

Power Cycled Modem and Router
Deleted and Re-added Rhapsody Account
Checked Rhapsody Account, nothing out of the ordinary

Also, Andy has commented on the forum post, so he may be aware of this issue.

Thanks,

LaRon

I'm able to repro this reliably. If you want me to do anything here to help you get a handle on this, just let me know.

But apparently that was a fluke. At best it temporarily "fixed" the problem. But it has not even temporarily helped in other occurrences of it.

I can't seem to reproduce this with SBC or iPeng. Can QA test?
Comment 8 James Richardson 2009-04-09 13:12:04 UTC
I am able to reproduce using Production SN and SBC by following the instructions at https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11692#c0

Search for an Artist on Rhapsody
Select an Artist
Select an Album
Select the Album and verify the number of tracks listed (for Hindu Gods it should be 10)
Click LEFT to get back to the Album List view
While the ALBUM is highlighted, click the 'play' button on the SBC
Click HOME button twice to get to the now playing screen
NOTICE: that the X of X listing states 1 of 16
Click RIGHT to get to the Track List
Notice that the SBC will become very slow to respond to button press's and scroll events in this view

NOTE: IF you click PLAY ALL while browsing an Album, this error does not happen
NOTE: IF you use the WEB UI this will not happen
--------------------------------------------------
Error does NOT happen on Test.sn

Re James Richardson's repro steps, I use Play All regularly and have the problem. I just tried it again, with a CD from my Rhapsody library. After hitting Play All, then the Home key twice, I indeed saw the correct track count. But on selecting the current track and getting the playlist display, I could not scroll down without the playlist getting trashed (it looked like I scrolled to the end of the displayed list then a list screen full of spinning circle icons (probably what is displayed as placeholders while the list was being popultated?) appeared - I hit home twice and I had the wrong track count again.

So I'm not seeing quite what James R reported - but I'm glad some form of the problem has been reproduced!

I'm glad this has been reproduced. I get the bug when I choose Play All in an album track list--extra tracks. I don't get the bug when I press the play button in a list of albums--then the number of tracks is correct and it doesn't freeze at the end.

So my pattern seems to be the same as Ballard and the opposite of Richardson, but ultimately it is the same problem, extra tracks and a freeze.

Fixed in change 25911.

This was actually around a while, but uncovered by the fact that some Napster albums have unplayable tracks that must be listed with the track list even though they are text-only items.
