From the default (lower-case "abc") keyboard, I perform the following actions:

press "123=&" key
press "shift" (up arrow).

After these two steps, the "ABC" button stops working (keyboard gets stuck in 123/special character mode).

Seen in setup (Network Password) and in search.  Probably exists in all keyboard screens.
