Bugzilla – Bug 11420
SBC Lockups et al
Last modified: 2009-04-20 12:46:40 UTC
This might not be the best platform for this RANT and I might be re-raising issues that are covered in other bugs but I'm getting very little feed back on what the issues might be, what I can test or what fixes there maybe. I'd like to say I'm a loyal SD fan, often deflecting commercial installs away from Sonos but the SBC is changing all of that and I can hope you see why... 1: 1st DUET purchase made from the UK reseller the momment they fell off the boat. Loads of problems configuring, send unit back as SBR has faulty wireless card in it. Get it back, had problems configuring the system but eventually got it working however getting very intermittant reboots. Suffer with it thinking newer SW will fix things on the way and I'm an early adopter 2: Do clinet installation involving 5-4 SBC's. Tricky to configure and would not charge. Had to manually modify 4 cradles to fix. 3: Do another install and find configuring the SBC's a pain. 3: My own SBC constantly reboots often failing to restart fully even when not used. Tried loads of SC versions, Jive versions, network configs and wireless settings. 4: Back case now creaking after sucsive battery removeal. Cured by adding a small bit of insulation tape. What I cannot understand is that all my other SB kit is rock solid, wired or wireless it is just the controller. About the only way I can see through at the moment is to biff the SBC's in favour of iPod Touch's HELP!
Right guys what do you need from me to get this sorted???? I recently updated to nightly Version: 7.3.3 - 25687 and found that it had an updated Jive for the SBC which is now at 7.3 r4673. My exsisting WLAN is served by my Draytek router I'm still suffering lockups and crashes of the SBC. All other SB kit is very stable. There has been various comms over the Draytek where I felt it was being blamed so I have just dusted off a very old DLink DWL-900AP+ and dedicated as the link to the SBC. Guess what? The controller eventually crashed even though it is setting right next door to the WAP. DHCP is not an issue as all SB devices have fixed IP's. Please Help! Could I just have a duff SBC?
I'm in the same boat Gary (feels a bit like The Titanic). My Duet Controller will simply not work with the Draytek router (though everything else ‘seems’ to work fine). The Duet mostly works with other routers but is still not that great; there are still drop-outs etc. I'm starting to think that my original theory is correct; both products have problems and the sum of both sets of problems makes them completely incompatible.

My problems were not fixed by firmware or WLAN changes. In the end I placed a fault call with Logitech UK and they send me a replacement controller that worked straight out of the box.
