In Pandora genre stations, one of the menu options for each station is "delete station."  After "deleting" a station, however, the station name remains in the menu, and if I attempt to play it later, I get an error message : "PANDORA ERROR: (Station Name) does not exist."

This can be resolved one of two ways: either remove the item from the list after it's deleted, or don't let users delete these types of stations.

I'm recommending the second solution - don't present a "delete this station" option in menus for genre stations.

This is a case of another bug that we can't find at the moment.  But in general if you are deep in the menu structure and hit 'delete,' the behavior is not good.  It will leave you at that same point in the menu structure, but some actions from there will now be invalid since you've deleted where you are now.

The options seem to be to jump back to the top of the menu, jump back to the lowest still-valid point in the menu or ???

Please let us know which way we should go!

I can't give a resolution "in general," but in this case the correct behavior is not to let the user delete a genre station.   The "delete" option shouldn't appear here.

Yes you can delete a genre station, since it is added to your own list of stations as a shared station.

Andy notes he is working on an overhaul of deleting items from menus.  This behavior should be reviewed after that time.  That's bug 11079.

What I'm proposing is that you can remove it from your favorites list but not from the genres menu.

OK, then this isn't a bug.  You cannot change the contents of the genre menu.

No.

The bug is that there is an OPTION presented to the user to delete the station.  The option should not be there if I get to the station via the genre menu.
