Description Sue Chastain 2009-01-12 15:13:57 UTC
This is maybe not a bug, but a situation that should probably be handled more gracefully in the UI. If I choose browse music folder and then browse into my playlist folder, Squeezecenter then becomes unresponsive for a very long time. I believe it is indexing the contents of my playlist folder, but there is no indication of this in the UI and it can take a long time if a user has large or many playlists.

Sue: is bug 10663 related to your bug?
Comment 2 James Richardson 2009-01-16 07:00:52 UTC
I meant bug 10703
Comment 3 Sue Chastain 2009-01-16 07:32:06 UTC
No, I don't think they are related. I have no problems browsing new music in the WebUI or in SqueezePlay under SC 7.4.

I just tried browsing the Playlist folder again. This time it not only made SC unresponsive, it knocked out my whole network for about 10 minutes. SC is running on an HP MediaSmart server which is 1.8 GHz, 1GB ram, running Windows Home Server.

Sue: can you try the latest build of SqueezeCenter: Windows Home Server Installer to see if that address's this issue?
Comment 5 Sue Chastain 2009-02-05 07:38:07 UTC
James: Yes, it looks like it is fixed with the WHS installer 7.4-24884. Thanks!

Sue, what paths are you using for your music and playlist folder? Be sure to use the UNC paths if your music and playlists are on your Windows Home Server for example \\localhost\music.

See https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10934#c2 for more information.
Comment 7 Sue Chastain 2009-02-05 09:16:05 UTC
Steven: Yes, I do use the UNC paths for my music and playlist folders. They are:
\\HPSERVER\Music\
\\HPSERVER\Music\_.Playlists

I looked at that other bug... it's good that you are going to default to UNC paths for the WHS. Previously in the initial setup you could only browse by drive letter, and you had to manually enter the UNC path.
