Bugzilla – Bug 10658
DHCP host name should be same as player name
Last modified: 2011-01-14 00:41:17 UTC
Felix: is this doable for MP?
It will at least be easy to make it SqueezeboxTouch, by customizing /etc/hostname for fab4 in the poky build.
Fixed in r5211.
For 7.4, I'd like it to work like the ip3k versions, which is to say, use the player name.
When should this be set: (a) when and only when the local SP change-player-name functionality is used; (b) whenever connecting to an SC or to SN, to whatever that server reports as the player name. The problem with (b) is that the same player may have different names on different SCs, and/or SN, especially if the user has SC<->SN preferences synchronization disabled. This would cause the DHCP name to 'bounce'. Given the new mechanism of simultaneous connectivity to both SC and SN, I'm not sure how that case would be covered if SC<->SN preferences synchronization is disabled. The problem with (a) is that it does not catch cases where some other UI than the local SP is ued to set the player's name.
this is an administrative shuffle on priority fields to help make better judgment on the top end of the priority list. P4->P5, P3->P4, and P2->P3.
Felix, let's discuss this at the on-site.
