Description Blackketter Dean 2003-12-19 22:15:49 UTC
And additional to this enhancement it would be fine if the software would support all text only
frames from ID3V2 (2.3 and 2.4). I think it shouldn't be that hard to add those to the frames that
can be displayed on the display while playing.
In special it would be fine to get the "Band/Orchestra" (TPE2) because I use this frame for "featured
Artists" which should be displayed after the Artist.
Maybe it would be enough to add a FRAME(framename) command so everybody can display all
frames he wants.

ALSO

In fact, it would be very handy if the contents of the composer,
conductor, soloist, and band/orchestra tags were all treated as
additional artist tags. That way, a classical disk could be
retrieved through the Browse Artist menu under the name of the
composer, conductor, soloist or orchestra. For example, I have an
album entitled "Kathleen Battle Sings Mozart" that could be tagged
such that it could be retrieved through the Browse Artist menu under
any of the following entries:

Battle, Kathleen
Previn, Andre
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus

I don't think you would need to create separate browsing menus for
these other data types. It seems to me that the existing Browse
Artist menu would work well for all of them.

We do now support the TCM/TCOM (Composter), TP3/TPE3 (Conductor), TP2/TPE2
(Band/Orchestra) tags and use their values in the Browse Artists list if the
"composerInArtists" preference is set.

While this bug talks about a more generic mechanism, I'm tempted to close it
because we do the right thing with the artist-related tags.

lets clean this stuff up and close this if we're as far as we're going to go. on
how we'll process this stuff. if there is something specific that isn't
covered, then I'm sure its either duped already, or a new bug can be filed.

Vidur, please feel free to mark resolved if you still feel that we are doing the
right thing.

I'd like to keep this one open please, as I'm still waiting to get at least
the ID3 tag TIT1 ('Content group description'), esp. since it is used by
iTunes (called "Grouping" there).

This is very useful to hold the name of a classical piece, while the TIT2
("normal" title) holds the movement.

Thanks,
Alexander.

Sorry, just saw that my request for TIT1 support is still open as Bug #557 -
so no objections to closing this one :-)

Moving bugs that won't be immediately fixed in 6.1 release. Please review and update if this is an error
or if this bug has already been fixed. Thanks.
