Bugzilla – Bug 10377
Apple Lossless files play from a ReadyNAS, but exhibit some distortion at the end of the track
Last modified: 2012-02-27 17:33:33 UTC
A customer reported this to me and I was able to reproduce it to an extent. The customer experiences this with all his files. I was able to reproduce this issue with a couple of files from the same album that was ripped in Apple Lossless format then transferred to the ReadyNAS. The issue is between tracks the customer hears a sort of distortion or clicking sound. Attached is a sample file that I was able to reproduce the problem with.

Do you know what exact SC build he's using and whether he's trying to transcode to lame (see bug 10293)? The ReadyNAS can't cope with the load. Try disabling alac/flac transcoding in favor of alac/wav (Settings/Advanced/File types)
Steven can you test this one out please.
He went from SC 7.2 to 7.3. He tried 7.2.1 before 7.3, but that also exhibited the same issues. He is back on 7.2 for now because he states the issues were not apparent in that version.
Julius, this issue should be fixed in the 7.3.1 release version of SqueezeCenter. There are a couple of ReadyNAS specific fixes in this release that deal with streaming and file types.
Reduce number of active targets for SC
Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
