Description Nigel Birch 2008-11-19 03:48:41 UTC
I've got a Squeezebox Boom that I'm using over wired Ethernet (I'm not using wireless). Recently it started to show a "Wireless card not found!" error.

I'll need to address the root cause of the error later (re-seat wi-fi card, return Boom, etc.).

The above error occurs when either

- powering on the Boom (i.e. powering on the main AC to the Boom) with SqueezeCentre unavailable (e.g. sleeping to be later woken up by WoL). In this case the error is shown correctly as a half-height font.

- turning on the Boom (i.e. front/remote power button) with SqueezeCentre unavailable (e.g. sleeping to be later woken up by WoL). In this case, the above error is garbled and overlaid over the full-height clock.

Thanks.

See bug 10071 for a problem with power off brightness on Boom that prevents this error message from being displayed.

The actual error is "Wireless card not installed!".

Nigel: This looks to be a bad boom, and should be returned. I'll have TS contact you for a replacement.

I'll take a look at the unit when it gets here.

I've got the replacement Boom. I'm just waiting on support to get back to me to let me know how I get the faulty one to you (they gave me a UPS shipping code but I'm unsure how I use it). I'll update this bug once it's shipped.

Nigel: thanks for the update, I take it the new boom doesn't have the same issue?
Comment 8 Nigel Birch 2008-12-01 23:28:13 UTC
Yes, it works fine on wired and wireless. The old one worked okay on wireless when I first got it - after a week a changed to wired (over powerline) as the microwave kepted on causing drop-outs. A couple of weeks later the error started appearing.

Which brand of Ethernet over power line adapters are you using?

Can you give me the make/model of the units you have setup. Thanks :)

They're UK Devolo DLAN 200 AVEasy ones.

The error doesn't affect operations whilst on Ethernet.

The Boom was picked up by UPS today. Logitech support have the tracking number.

Received the unit back, confirmed that the Wireless card died, no other damage to main board.
