Ticket Ref# 081029-000961

Windows Vista
SC 7.2.1

Scenerio:

Customer restarts Windows Vista and SqueezeCenter does not start. User Access Control does not remember to allow Serviceenabler.exe

Troubleshooting:

Clean install of 7.2.1/updated firmware
Tried both ways of starting SqueezeCenter (via as a service, and log on)
Tried adding Serviceenabler.exe (and other ports) as exceptions to the built in firewall
Sent link on how to add items to User Access Control

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691.aspx#BKMK_S2

Customer did add the serviceenabler.exe to the UAC list, but his UAC would not remember his settings. Every time he reboots, the UAC asks him to allow this application.

When we turn User Access Control off, SqueezeCenter starts fine after every reboot.

***I did inform the customer that this seems to be a User Access Control issue, which is part of his OS.***

Possible dupe of bug 9377?

Hello James,

No audio beep, and eventually it starts after about 5 mins

Thanks,

Michael: your thoughts on this issue? Could it be related to any of the other Vista issues people are seeing?
Comment 4 Michael Herger 2008-11-18 23:19:17 UTC
I don't understand the issue: serviceenabler should be a one time action, not required to run at startup or something. Windows would ask for permission as with an installation.

What's the exact problem here?
Do you get error messages?
server.log?
Windows event log?

James: it seems Michael needs more info.

This appears to be an OS error, closing bug for now. If it pops up again, reopen and add details.
