Description Michael Herger 2008-11-13 06:20:34 UTC
Fletch - how hard would it be removing the Slim folder and all its sub folders during installation of any of the Linux packages?

From time to time we'd like to remove a file (or a plugin). On Windows and OSX the full folder is removed before installation. But not on Linux.

RPM and apt take care of this automatically.
Comment 2 Michael Herger 2008-11-18 03:09:41 UTC
Fletch - just updated my CentOS based system (yum localinstall ...). The plugins have _not_ been removed, or at least not all of them. I still have Shoutcast, RadioIO etc. and they have today's timestamp. Is there something wrong with our build system or the rpms?
Comment 3 Michael Herger 2008-11-18 03:58:59 UTC
Told the build machine to do clean checkouts. Now the build doesn't come with RadioIO/Shoutcast/Picks any longer, but the folders aren't removed. Thus there are now two instances of the above menus.

Hmm, weird. I have a cron job on my CentOS machine that updates to the latest 7.3 every night using "rpm -Uvh ..." and it all works as expected. Those plugins have all been removed.

will use plain rpm next time I update. We'll see whether it handles this differently.
Comment 6 Michael Herger 2008-11-19 05:15:17 UTC
still encountered some issues installing SC on a plain CentOS 4.7 (see bug 8531). But using rpm instead of yum did work fine. I guess my installation at home has seen too much tinkering and is not representative.
Comment 7 Mark Miksis 2008-11-19 11:14:55 UTC
If you think the problem is that rpm works but yum doesn't, let me know and I'll look into it. That shouldn't happen. Regarding bug 8531, I still have no clue...

This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter!

Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.

Reduce number of active targets for SC
