Description Mick 2008-11-11 03:56:19 UTC
I've seen this in r3309 and before (I think it's been present since Squeezeplay was added) but after the controller goes into standby (either by itself, or using the Sleep option in the Settings->Advanced->Turn Off menu option) it no longer makes any audio feedback sounds after it is woken. The scroll wheel is silent when turned etc...

Last night I left the controller in it's cradle. I'm pretty sure it was making sounds when I left it, but it was silent this morning when I picked it up.

I'll grab this one to look at.

Richard,

I left the controller docked all day after a reboot this morning and haven't seen the problem, but it's easily reproducible by putting the controller to sleep and waking it up again.

I have tried to recreate this a couple of time, but the sound always returns on resume for me. QA could you please try.

If you do find that the sound fails, I'd like to know if it's all sound (including the audio playback) or just the sound effects.

Mick, if you have any additional information that would be great.

I just tried this with the latest fw 3384, and I can recreate it every time.

I don't have the beta audio playback enabled. Go to the Settings->Advanced->Turn Off->Sleep

The controller starts to go to sleep. Just before the screen turns off, there's a loud crackle and then the controller goes to sleep.

Then give the controller a sleep to bring it out of it's slumber and you'll find that the scroll wheel makes no sound.

Now I've just found that enabling Audio playback restores the sound and once the sound is back you can enable/disable audio playback all you like and the scroll wheel will still make a sound as it's turned.

Mick: are you stating in comment 4 that the player is now working fine for you?

I was able to repo the error as you stated, however, once I enabled/disabled Audio Playback, I could never repo the problem again.

Even resting my controller to factory and trying the steps again (leaving audio playback disabled) I couldn't get the controller to stop audio again.

Testing another controller, I am able to have the audio fail.

Richard, what logging would you like me to enable on the controller?
Comment 7 James Richardson 2008-11-18 10:41:21 UTC
Richard, assign the bug to me if you need logs captured.

Thanks Mick, that helped. Fixed in r3401.
