Description Al Reynolds 2008-11-05 14:11:10 UTC
Reproduce this bug on a Squeezebox Boom as follows:

Start some music playing on the Boom.

Go to SqueezeCenter Settings (I am on 7.2.1)

Choose Player Settings --> Basic Setings --> Reset Player Preferences

Set "Screensaver When Playing" to "Analog VU Meter"
Set "Screensaver delay" to "10 seconds"
Apply changes

(it appears when the song has been playing for 10 seconds)

Set Player Settings --> Display -- "Scroll Mode" to "Scroll once then stop"
Apply changes

(the screensaver will stil be showing)

Now use the remote to find a track where the title is longer than the display, so it needs to scroll. Leave it at that point and the screensaver will now not kick in.

If you use the remote to find a track where the title does fit on the display, so scrolling isn't necessary, then the screensaver will appear after 10 seconds.

I haven't had a chance to check if this affects my SB3 as well, but I will check when I get a chance.

Update: My SB3 does exactly the same. SC7.21 on Mac OS X 10.4.

I have not been able to repoduce this on SC 7.3 nightly. What version are you all using?
Comment 3 Al Reynolds 2008-11-12 13:30:54 UTC
I'm using 7.2.1.

If I get a chance I will check if it works on 7.3, but I've just got AlienBBC working again and I don't want to break it!

7.3-23907
Mac OS X 10.4.11

Exactly the same behaviour is exhibited on the Boom (same steps).
Haven't checked the SB3.

Finlay able to repo it. While playing, if I FF to a new track, the SS kicks in immediately (no delay) and I don't see any scrolling.

If look at the playlist and advance to a track that will scroll, then click play, I see the error.

Triode, your thoughts on this one?

Yes, I should have been clear when I said "navigate to".

I meant use the up/down buttons to move through the current playlist.

You don't even have to press play - if you just leave it looking at one which should scroll it scrolls once and stops, but the screensaver doesn't kick in.

I will look at, but won't make 7.3
Comment 8 Adrian Smith 2008-11-13 14:54:14 UTC
Simple fix - made 7.3 in change 23927

Thanks!

This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter!

Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
