Description Ralph Bolton 2008-11-01 04:37:49 UTC
I just ripped a new CD (to Flac) that had the following tags:

ARTIST=Godskitchen
ALBUM=Anthems 1
ARTISTSORT=Various Artists

After ripping, I did a "Clear everything and rescan" in Squeezecentre. Naturally, a "Various Artists" entry appeared under "Artists".

I then removed the ARTISTSORT tag from the files on disk, and did another full rescan. Curiously, the "Various Artists" entry was still there, as indeed was the individual entry under "Godskitchen". Another recscan didn't resolve this.

Finally, I deleted the files completely and did a rescan. This made the "Various Artists" and "Godskitchen" entries disappear. I re-ripped the entries, removed the ARTISTSORT tag and did a full rescan, which has resolved the problem.

So it seems that some information is retained even through a full rescan.

QA to investigate
Comment 2 Spies Steven 2009-01-08 14:42:57 UTC
Moving to 7.3.3 and adding keyword new_schema
Comment 3 KDF 2009-02-14 20:13:22 UTC
Look at playlists (m3u files) as some meta data can exist there, and as long as the file exists, it will be included. Also, MusicIP or itunes, if they are used will also factor. SC takes all metadata from all sources and merges them. When the files are deleted, the metadata would be dumped because the related file isn't found.

We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future.

Thanks!

Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it.

Thanks.

For some reason Bugzilla did not change the target when I did this yesterday. Or maybe it was me. In either case, I'm trying it again.

Ralph,

the scanner is supposed to be a lot better, can you still reproduce this issue with 7.6 betas?

also, might be some crossover here with:

bug 9523
Comment 8 Ralph Bolton 2010-11-11 02:31:17 UTC
I can't immediately reproduce the bug, but that's not to say it's fully resolved. However, I'm going to say it's resolved, and will reopen if it turns up again.

Thanks, all, very much for your help.

Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test
with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to
reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
