playing simply mp3 tracks, showing now playing with progress and elapsed time,
never seems to change to the next song.  Elapsed time keeps counting past the
end of track.

ok, this looks like it may be 2 separate things.  it seems that ONLY when
scrolling it doesn't update the now playing info.

a separate issue, seems to be no way to get a remaining time display
