what iTunes version are you using? Was it running when the error happened?
Andy, your thoughts on this? Jim, please respond to the question on what version you have.

itunes is 8.0.1.11 and was not running, i don't use itunes much. win xp pro sp2 Version: 7.3 - 23686 @ Sat Oct 25 03:22:19 PDT 2008 Hostname: study Server IP Address: 10.10.10.2 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Platform Architecture: 586 Perl Version: 5.8.8 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt Total Players Recognized: 2
I've fixed the crash in change 23745. I have no idea why Win32::OLE wouldn't be able to talk to iTunes. Note that whether it was running or not doesn't matter, iTunes will be launched if necessary.
so being the newbie I am, i downloaded the 10/30 nightly... is chg 23745 in this release. i installed the 10/31, rescanned, and the error at the end is different. [08-10-31 03:54:19.1093] Carp::carp (271) Warning: Win32::OLE(0.1707) error 0x80080005: "Server execution failed" at /<C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\scanner.exe>Slim/Music/Import.pm line 519 note that the scan summary shows the 15 songs in the itunes library iTunes Import (15 of 15) Complete 00:00:00 but, they don't show up in the squeezecenter DB, likely because of the error at the end of the scan
the file name says 23737, doesn't it? Please try today's build.
ok Michael, I have 10/31 (Version: 7.3 - 23752 @ Fri Oct 31 03:32:05 PDT 2008) installed, I rescanned and receive the error I posted a few minutes ago. [08-10-31 03:54:19.1093] Carp::carp (271) Warning: Win32::OLE(0.1707) error 0x80080005: "Server execution failed" at /<C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\scanner.exe>Slim/Music/Import.pm line 519 thank you for your help
That's one for Andy. But I'd say iTunes crashes when asked for artwork. Does the scanner run through or crash too?
the only crash i see is at the end i'm not sure if that answers your question about whether the scanner completes without error... thanks for your help
any update?
