what iTunes version are you using? Was it running when the error happened?
Comment 2 James Richardson 2008-10-30 13:32:46 UTC
Andy, your thoughts on this?

Jim, please respond to the question on what version you have.

Comment 5 Andy Grundman 2008-10-30 21:15:46 UTC
I've fixed the crash in change 23745. I have no idea why Win32::OLE wouldn't be able to talk to iTunes.

Note that whether it was running or not doesn't matter, iTunes will be launched if necessary.
Comment 6 Jim Sturtevant 2008-10-31 04:01:36 UTC
so being the newbie I am, i downloaded the 10/30 nightly... is chg 23745 in this release.

i installed the 10/31, rescanned, and the error at the end is different.

note that the scan summary shows the 15 songs in the itunes library

iTunes Import (15 of 15) Complete 00:00:00

but, they don't show up in the squeezecenter DB, likely because of the error at the end of the scan
Comment 7 Michael Herger 2008-10-31 04:16:25 UTC
the file name says 23737, doesn't it? Please try today's build.
Comment 8 Jim Sturtevant 2008-10-31 04:20:11 UTC
ok Michael, I have 10/31 (Version: 7.3 - 23752 @ Fri Oct 31 03:32:05 PDT 2008) installed, I rescanned and receive the error I posted a few minutes ago.

thank you for your help
Comment 9 Michael Herger 2008-10-31 04:26:38 UTC
That's one for Andy. But I'd say iTunes crashes when asked for artwork. Does the scanner run through or crash too?
Comment 10 Jim Sturtevant 2008-10-31 05:41:52 UTC
the only crash i see is at the end
i'm not sure if that answers your question about whether the scanner completes without error...
thanks for your help
