Description Phil Anderson 2008-10-24 19:08:20 UTC
The MyRadio plugin which was previously included with Squeezecenter has gone missing in the 7.2.1 Linux RPM. It wasn't in the release notes, so I assume this is not intentional and is a bug.

This item was removed, I will add the information to the release notes. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

I have 2 customers that would like this feature back, is there any specific reason this was removed?
Comment 3 Terje 2008-10-30 11:16:13 UTC
I'm one of the customers which would like this back. I understand that a better way of doing everything i wanted, but until then, please return this feature.

There are more than just two customers who miss the MyRadio plugin. For example, see:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=52599&highlight=MyRadio

If somebody just "gapped it" and accidentally left MyRadio out of the build, please put it back.

If this was intentionally left out, please reconsider.

Consensus of the bug meeting was that no fix would be forth coming for this bug. Marking as won't fix, if you disagree, please reopen and voice your dissension.
Comment 6 Terje 2010-02-11 13:24:53 UTC
This bug was closed as 9150 was supposed to give a better way of handling everything. However 9150 har been closed in WONTFIX as well, so please reconsider adding MyRadio back in until something better will be available.
Comment 7 Julius Dauz 2010-03-26 09:03:41 UTC
I've received correspondence from a user on this bug that they are interested in having this bug reopened. Per his email, there was another bug addressing a "better way" to do what MyRadio offered, but that bug was closed as a "won't fix"

Reopening bug and having user comment on the bug.

Things that users could do to improve radio station 'handling' would include: telling us why the existing favorites handling is not good enough.
Comment 9 Philip Meyer 2010-04-07 23:38:37 UTC
"My Radio Stations" gives a user a place to store their radio station urls that are not available in other radio station provider lists. These are not necessarily favorites - they may not be played often.

eg. my local Farnborough Radio station - I only put this on once every two years, to listen to Farnborough Airshow commentary. It certainly isn't a favorite.

Some Radio Stations in "My Radio Stations" could additionally be set as Favorites.

It also (used to) keep all radio stations in one place - all discoverable under the Radio Stations menu. I say "used to" because now a lot of radio station providers appear within My Apps (which is annoying).
Comment 10 Chris Owens 2010-04-13 10:16:05 UTC
You can add them to a playlist with the '+' button, and then switch between them using << or >> or by just scrolling through the list. Not good enough? :)
Comment 11 Terje 2010-04-13 10:23:02 UTC
The thing is that we need a place to store our own "library" of radio stations which are not favorites. MyRadio provided such a place. That some radio stations can be tagged as favorites as well is something different. And, on another point, radio stations should be found under the Radio menu, that the only logical place and the only place a non technical user would look. This has to do with usability which sometimes could use some more focus for the Squeezebox line of products. There was at least one thread on the forums about this when MyRadio was removed, look that up and see some of the comments.

Well I'd encourage users who want this feature restored to continue voting for it. Looking back at our notes at the time, this feature was supposedly going to be replaced by fixing the bug where Radio stations could not be added to playlists.

However I'll cc' Anandh, who is responsible for speccing future features.
