7.3/r3173 - connected to a slow server aka readynas. Configuration has been happy for a few days, problems only started today. Latest change: addition of a second player to this server for the buddy's office next door.

Today it happened several times that after playing a random album (RandomMix -> Album Mix) the antenna went immediately red. The following procedure which lead to this point might be unrelated and overly complicated, but here we go. It has happened twice:

- two players connected to SC 7.3
- sync them
- plug the power from one of the players
- shut down/reboot server (without powering down second player)
- start a random Album Mix on the Controller for the remaining player
- restart a new mix as I didn't like the first
-> Controller goes into Now Playing screen (correct), and antenna goes red

Is the controller still connected/working when this happens? I've seen cases where if my SC goes away and then comes back, the SBC will have the red icon, but will be connected and working properly. Not sure if this is the same bug or not...
Comment 2 Michael Herger 2008-10-26 00:13:16 UTC
In my cases the controller wasn't connected any more. It wouldn't change volume, update now playing information, browse etc. The IP wouldn't answer a ping any more neither.

In one case I wasn't even able to shut down the Controller. It wouldn't react to any of the buttons, but only the wheel.

Reverted change to wlan modules in 7.3 r3215. Can you please report back if you still see this problem. I am leaving this bug open for the moment.
Comment 4 Ross Levine 2008-10-29 17:53:54 UTC
Related to bug 9004 ?
Comment 5 Michael Herger 2008-10-30 00:29:58 UTC
I'm not sure it's the same issue. What I've been reporting has only happened twice, and only after I had two players synchronised and rebooted the server with one of the players unplugged. Other than that my Controller is working fine with that really slow ReadyNAS.
Comment 6 James Richardson 2008-10-30 13:11:09 UTC
Richard, is this one yours to fix? Ross thinks this is the same as the slow server bug.

If so, please mark as duplicate
Comment 7 Richard Titmuss 2008-11-03 10:02:18 UTC
I believe this is fixed now, I have not seen this problem after the wlan driver was reverted.

It did it again (fw3309):

I'm worried about this bug. More information on how to recreate would be great. Is it really related to sync, because if so that makes very little sense.

Comment 10 Ben Klaas 2008-11-12 14:54:51 UTC
fwiw, I saw red antenna a couple of times today, and I'm pretty sure I was working on sync at the time. I'll update with specific steps if I can reproduce it.
Comment 11 Michael Herger 2008-11-12 22:33:42 UTC
James - this is the issue you've seen a few days ago. Please try playing with syncing, probably shutting down one of the synced players etc.
Comment 12 James Richardson 2008-11-13 08:42:10 UTC
I've not seen the issue in MV, but I'll test it this week to see if I can repo it
Comment 13 Richard Titmuss 2008-11-14 15:41:37 UTC
I'm interested to know if anyone sees this problem with r3380 or greater. I suspect this is most likely caused by out-of-memory issues, and the more recent firmware has some fixes to reduce the memory usage.

Comment 14 James Richardson 2008-12-15 12:08:37 UTC
This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter!

Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
