Description Dan Evans 2008-10-23 10:58:27 UTC
My understanding is: when connected to SN, if Boom loses connection and tries and fails to reconnect 4 times we display the inappropriate message, "Please update your version of SqueezeCenter". (or something close.)

This should be removed or fixed with a more appropriate error message.

I have seen the same when the connection to the SC is reeeeally slow. The SB just got dark and later reconnected successfully. My Boom needed manual intervention after the link was up again (setup->connect to SC, two key presses)

So in this case it was not a misleading message only but it prevents an automatic recovery of the player.

I removed the check for when SBB connects to SN.

As for when connecting to SC I changed the wording as following:

"Server disconnected.
Left to go back. Check network / SC 7.2 or newer required."

In addition I increased the times SBB needs to be kicked off SC to 10 (was 4).

The change will be in SBB fw 37 which will be included in SC 7.3.

thanks for the info. eventually i'll report it here if this problem comes back with fw37. Nevertheless i'd appreciate it if the recovery is done automatically but there are probably reasons (strong requirement for 7.2 - as in bad things can happen otherwise?) why the SBB must be treated differently.

I am going to close this then, please reopen if you still see the issue when connected to SN.

This bug has been fixed in the 7.3.0 release version of SqueezeCenter!

Please download the new version from http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html if you haven't already.

If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
