Description Daniel Barrett 2008-10-21 19:54:48 UTC
Two of my Squeezeboxes, one v2 and the other v3, have lost their names assigned by SqueezeCenter (under Settings / Player / Basic Settings in SqueezeCenter) in the past few days. The name reverts to "Squeezebox". I then change it back manually to the correct name.

The first time it happened seemed random using SqueezeCenter 7.2.0. The second time was immediately after the 7.2.1 upgrade.

One possibility: it might be happening when connecting or disconnecting a Squeezebox or Boom on my network. (I have 7 Squeezebox devices: one v2, three v3's, and three Booms. Yeah, I kinda like these boxes....) All of them have static IP addresses, if that matters.

Refreshing or force-refreshing the web browser does not affect the problem. Neither does waiting. No other settings are changed (that I've noticed), just the name.

By "connecting or disconnecting a Squeezebox or Boom," I'm not talking about the device that loses its name. I mean connecting/disconnecting a DIFFERENT Squeezebox on the network.

Do you have SC to SN Server Sync enabled or disabled?
Comment 3 Daniel Barrett 2008-10-25 04:26:26 UTC
I'm guessing you're referring to the setting "SqueezeNetwork Integration", The value is "Enabled, keep player settings in sync."

Otherwise, please tell me the exact name (in SqueezeCenter) of the setting you want me to check.

Ross please investigate this one, then target appropriatly
Comment 5 Ross Levine 2008-10-31 18:30:12 UTC
Well it takes more than upgrading from 7.2 to 7.2.1, I've tried that and my player name doesn't change. I'll keep trying to reproduce this.
Comment 6 Ross Levine 2008-11-07 14:29:05 UTC
My Dad just reproduced this. He has an Airlink101 router (sorry pops, it was on sale) and *something* went wrong with it. He and his neighbor who uses his connection were noticing very slow Internet access so he rebooted the router and his cable modem. That fixed his networking issue, but both of his players were renamed within SC.
Comment 7 James Richardson 2009-10-30 08:58:37 UTC
Daniel: Since the release of 7.4.1, have you experienced this issue again?
Comment 8 Daniel Barrett 2009-10-31 19:01:19 UTC
I have not experienced it in 7.3.2.
