Bugzilla – Bug 9761
Initial setup needs to include music source menu if no player is detected
Last modified: 2011-01-14 12:09:29 UTC
Current 7.3 builds. Initial configuration of squeezeplay when when it is not on the same subnet as the server is confusing and probably won't work for people. You need to exit the setup dialog to get back to the music source menu so you can add the ip address of the server. I think the music source menu should be added to the initial dialog if no server is found and not players are found when connecting to SN.
I don't think this is an enhancement - if you don't have your server on the same subnet as the players then you will think its broken at present... I think it needs fixing for 7.3
Good point Triode, thanks. I'm not sure if there is time for this in 7.3.
7.4 does not exist, re-targetting to 8.0.
I think this should be 7.3.1 - its **broken** at present unless you really try hard to setup a player when you have a routed network and your server which is not on the local segment. I've just tried again with a factory reset on the latest firmware - you get through the setup wizard to the Setup Squeezebox screen and then there is no way to progress. The only way out is to press and hold home to get out of the setup wizard, find the music source menu and add your server. This is not at all intuative. What should happen is that if no players are found (because no servers are found), you get the option to add a server via the music source menu. You really need a test setup which includes the server being on a remote segment.
Reset priority before triage.
