Description howard passman 2008-10-18 03:45:10 UTC
After making a change in the screen for Customize Controller the scroll bar on the right hand side disappears intermittantly. Not so much that you can't duplicate the behavior quickly.

If you refresh the screen you go back to the Basic Setup tab and then you can go back in to Plug-ins and the scroll bar is back.

Thanks

Ben: this looks like a dupe of another bug, in any case, is this yours to address?
Comment 2 Ben Klaas 2008-10-31 09:21:11 UTC
a little confusing when reading the bug, but I believe that Howard is talking about the SC Web UI.
Comment 3 howard passman 2008-10-31 10:59:23 UTC
Hi Ben,

You were right, I was talking about the "Settings" in the SC UI. Sorry I didn't make it clear.

Have a great weekend,

Howard

what browser? Can't reproduce this in 7.3
Comment 5 howard passman 2008-11-03 01:44:33 UTC
Sorry, IE 7.0. Did not check it with last nights update, but other than that it still does it. I'll do a screen shot tonight and attach it.

Thanks

Howard

One more thing: do you have many items in the list? Sounds and/or images? Seems to be working fine for me.

Hi Michael. I don't have any sounds, just images. I have 5 images so the page is longer than the screen will hold.

Michael, As promised a screen shot of the "Controller Customizer" screen. Note the lack of a vertical scroll bar.

Hope this helps.

BTW, this was done after I installed SC 3.7-23789

This issue might be related to some other hard to reproduce bugs where IE6/7 would fall over some JavaScript initialization.
Comment 10 Michael Herger 2008-12-12 02:04:58 UTC
Howard - if you're still seeing this, do you get an error in IE? (bottom left)
Comment 11 howard passman 2008-12-12 02:39:09 UTC
Hi Michael,

I'm at work right now and for some reason our connection is crawling. I went to SC remotely, but the settings page never completely loaded. I'll check it again tonight when I get home. That'll be about 10 hours from now.

There's an increasing number of users reporting issues with the settings in MS IE6/7. Very likely a generic issue with some JavaScript, not limited to the Customize Controller section.
Comment 14 Michael Herger 2009-01-07 05:36:07 UTC
change 24543 - don't even try to resize the dropdown menu. It often crashes on IE6/7, and they don't know max-height anyway. This should hopefully fix the settings pages crasher in IE. Please re-open if it doesn't. Thanks!

Howard, does the fix work for you?
Comment 16 howard passman 2009-01-16 18:15:54 UTC
Fix? Not sure what the fix was. I'm currently on 7.3.2 23540 and it still has the same behavior.

It really doesn't bother me and as far as I'm concerned we can close this, but in reality, the problem still exists.

Howard - I'm a bit confused what we're talking about here. In one comment you said the settings pages never fully loaded? What does that mean? And is this only in that one "Customize Controller" screen or on all pages?

I probably closed the wrong bug when I fixed one JS issue for IE because this bug's summary says what my fix should generally have fixed. If you hit that issue, you couldn't use any of the longer settings pages. As you say you don't bother, I assume you're only seeing one particular case, probably really "Customize Controller" only?

QA - can you try to reproduce the "CC" case?

Michael,

I'm not sure what is confusing. Have you looked at the screen shots I attached? I didn't say the page isn't loading completely, I'm saying you can't see the entire page because it's larger than the screen and the vertical scroll bar is missing. Please look at the attachments.

Out of all the time I spend on my PC I never see this behavior on any other web site or page. Again, if no one else is complaining, let's drop it.

Nope, not yet. Using IE 7.0 SC 7.3.2 24540

Richard, don't forget this is intermittant. Say the word and I will never mention it again.

Please see my latest attachment.
