Connectivity Issues with Linksys WRT150N Router
Last modified: 2009-06-03 09:39:03 UTC
(support ref# 080926-000849) Customer had Duet connected to Actiontec router from Verizon. Both Controller and Receiver kept losing connection and failing to BLUE icons. He went out and bought a Linksys WRT150N and tried setup again. He's seeing essentially the same behavior. Performing a factory reset on device and going through setup again WILL connect successfully, but if left idle for a while both fail to BLUE. Due to the customer's ire and frustration, troubleshooting was stopped and we're sending a replacement.
Target monitor. Dan please update us with the results of the RMA. The symptom you describe makes me wonder if his music source is the one with the networking problem.
Ross-- customer received the replacement Duet and it behaves exactly the same. (possibly worse, he reports after the latest firmware update.) If we don't have this router, we may want to order one?
James will help me acquire this. This router isn't being produced any more so it might take time to find one. Thanks James! Dan, what of the potential networking issue? What version SqueezeCenter is he running? I wonder if the latest 7.2.1 BIOD controller fixes would help.
Per conversation with Ross, will request customer try SN, to be sure it's not something with his server.
Update: customer took his Actiontec router out of the equation, so the WRT150N was acting as both router plus wifi access point. This fixed the problem. So... we do NOT seem to have a problem with this router after all. Unfortunately, he cannot take the Actiontec router out of the picture permanently as he also subscribes to Verizon TV with uses the Actiontec router to provide TV signal. Why the Actiontec router is causing this issue is unclear. At this stage, this will likely become a refund, sadly.
Dan, did you get the customer to disable the wlan power saving? This is the most likely cause of any incompatibility issues with the Controller.
Also did the customer disable DHCP and NAT on the WRT150N to use it as an access point?
I did have him disable the wireless power saving feature but there was no change. When he had the Actiontec router handling DHCP, the Linksys' DHCP/NAT was disabled.
Finally got around to testing the WRT150N, works great with r3993. Updated RouterStatus wiki.
