Description Julius Dauz 2008-10-15 15:40:00 UTC
Apple Lossless files do not play when streaming from an Infrant ReadyNAS.

Apple AAC files play just fine.

I am running the latest firmware release on a ReadyNAS NV+. With the SDI build of SqueezeCenter 7.2.

I'll take a look.

Information on my setup which I have been told by Logitech Customer Support is the same as this bug # is:

Name: RAIDiator
Version: 4.1.4
Date: Fri Sep 26 16:12:36 2008
Size: 60553216

SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 - 22900 @ Tue Aug 26 11:25:48 PDT 2008 - Netgear RAIDiator - EN - utf8

Model: transporter
Firmware: 62

On the Transporter, I have performed a Factory Reset and forced a Firmware upgrade.

If I select music from the library to play on the Transporter (on the remote, front panel or through SqueezeCenter), the Transporter does NOT a) make any sound, b) show any progress in playing the track and c) indicate any sound level on the VU meter display. On the SqueezeCenter web interface, SqueezeCenter seems to think the track is playing because the playing time/time remaining changes normally.

I have not been able to reproduce.

I was able to play ALAC files without issue with a factory reset ReadyNAS with RAIDiator Version 4.1.4. This version contains a ReadyNAS version of SqueezeCenter 7.2 - 22900.

I also updated to the full version of SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 - 23630 and was able to play ALAC without issue.

Julius, I suggest setting player.source logging to debug and see if there is an error since ALAC is transcoded in SqueezeCenter.

Some additional information:

1) The symptom is the same on a SqueezeBox 3. The SqueezeCenter "thinks" the player is playing music as the song time progresses, but on the SB3 and Transporter, the music remains at 0:00. If you attempt to fast forward into the song, the time will reset to 0:00 after you have fast forwarded.

2) I had successfully updated to SqueezeCenter 7.2 on the 4.0.x of the ReadyNAS NV+ firmware. Not being able to play on the SB3 or Transporter only manifested itself after I updated the ReadyNAS NV+ firmware to 4.1.4 with the included SqueezeCenter 7.2.

3) I live in Mountain View, CA if you want to see a non-working setup.

Hello All,

Since all of my music is in Apple Lossless format, my Transporter is basically a $2K clock radio.

Any update on the status of this bug?

Sincerely,

Mark Hane

Mark, have you tried replacing the readynas version of SqueezeCenter with the full version of SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 available here: http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads.html

Julius, have you had a chance to take a look at player.source logging?

Hello Steven,

I can try SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 at the end of the week (I am currently on a business trip).

Over the weekend, I uploaded some 320 Kbps MP3s to the iTunes Library and confirmed that those play properly, so the problem appears to be a problem with transcoding the Apple Lossless files.

Hello Steven,

I upgraded to SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 over the weekend, and the Transporter now plays Apple Lossless files properly.

The curious thing about my problem is that SqueezeCenter 7.2 worked fine on the ReadyNAS NV+ prior to upgrading to RAIDiator 4.1.4 (I believe it was 4.0-something with a build date in about August).

Anyway, my issue is resolved. Thanks for the support.

Sincerely,

Mark Hane
