Bugzilla – Bug 9711
Remove port number from player information
Last modified: 2009-07-31 10:30:52 UTC
Does this really provide any useful information? IMO it just takes up space and is potentially confusing to users trying to configure their firewalls. I suggest removing it from all 3 UIs.
can you provide a screen shot of what you want removed?
A screenshot is probably not necessary. In SC, go to Settings->Status and look at Player Information. For each player, you will see a line like "Player Port Number: 48213". The same is also displayed under player information in the SBCUI and playerUI. IMO, this info is useless.
Maybe i'm the only who once found this information useful (albeit not really required). Some of my players are hidden behind the same IP address (firewall/nat config) so the source port is an easy way to distinguish between the players, e.g. for troubleshooting network problems. If this information is dropped i won't argue - it's not that important ;)
change 23568 - get rid of player port number. It's (almost ;-)) useless and confusing.
Michael, since you seem to agree with me on this, I suggest the port also be removed from the bottom of Settings->Player->Basic Settings.
