Bugzilla – Bug 969
Squeezebox resets when playing
Last modified: 2007-10-22 16:13:22 UTC
Whilst playing music, squeezebox will reset itself at random intervals. Display goes blank, startup logo appears and box goes through setup screens (will use existing values if left alone) - then start playing again from beginning of song. Problem _appears_ to occur when connecting via wireless - have not properly tested when connected via ethernet. Server now running on Win2k version 6.0 - nightly build - problem occured on previous 5.3/5.4 releases. Nothing obvious in server debug output.
have you contacted support@slimdevices.com? This seems to be more along the lines of something faulty, so it would be good if that could be ruled otu first.
I have the same problem - also running wireless w/ Win2k server and 5.4 release. Player goes "quiet" - some times restarts song other times doesn't and requires some messing with the controls (e.g. hitting pause and/or play, power on/off, etc.)
Is this with G or non-G Squeezeboxes?
I am not familiar with the "G" vs. "Non-G" delineation. If you are referring to the wireless protocol supported by the SqueezeBox, I am not sure how to tell. If not, can you explain? My S/N is 208967A. Player firmware version is 40 and my wireless router is a D-Link DWL-900AP+ - perhaps this helps..
Sean: can you take a look at this for 6.0.2? This is our #1 firmware issue for sb1.
I just recently changed wireless network to a Belkin Pre-N, and in altering the setup of an SB1 to the new SSID, it resets constantly. Even when in setup, entering 'connect to wireless' resets. Hooking up wired now STILL resets as soon as it tries to connect to slimserver 6.1. it does get an IP addy, but can't get to server before a reset. FW40, and I can't refresh it since it wont get far enough to even try.
Just to confirm, this is the non-G version
I have similiar issues here (1-2x daily). Running an SB2 in wireless "G" mode. Linksys router in the office with SlimServer running in the media center PC in the livingroom (via a USB Microsoft Wireless card). Restarting the unit via the power switch usually will not fix it for me, I have to either manually kill the slim.exe process (usually still running) and/or reboot the entire PC. Very annoying.
Could this be related to bug 1932?
I've just sent a note to support, and since then found this bug. My problem is similar to that in the original post, so I figured I'd share my details. My setup is as follows: SlimServer 6.2.1 running on XP SB2 firmware 40 Library size: around 1000 albums. Wireless Access Point: Linksys WRT54GS (signal strength 45%) Occasionally, when a reboot of the SB happens, it reboots while starting up. I don't understand this bug system ; why is this listed as "NEW", when it is many months old?
(In reply to comment #10) > Could this be related to bug 1932? > No. Problem is not specific to playing MMS streams - occurs when playing MP3's MT
Is not hardware related. Have tested squeezebox for > 12 hours on multiple linux squeezebox hosts - problem not encountered.
This happens to me at least once or twice per album that I try to play. In the middle of playing a song, the squeezebox will reset, I'll see the startup logo and setup sequence, and the song will restart. I've got a Squeezebox v1, and everything's up-to-date as far as I can tell. Running XP Pro SP2 with all updates as of 2 Oct 2006 on a 1.8GHz Thinkpad A31 with 1GB of RAM SlimServer Version: 6.5.0 - 9916 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252 Server IP address: 127.0.0.1 Perl Version: 5.8.7 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt Squeezebox v1 S/N 208766A Player Firmware Version: 40 Connected over 802.11 to a Linksys router
Alas, we can't reproduce this here and there's nothing we can do to fix it. Please contact the support team support@slimdevices.com if it's still an issue for you.
