Description Osama Zaidan 2008-09-30 15:40:24 UTC
The scanner will not import files with Chinese characters when the Squeezecenter is integrated with iTunes.

The files will not show up as a part of iTunes library or as a part of an iTunes playlist in SC UI.

Scanning the same file without iTunes integration, the file shows under the music folder, artists or albums with the Chinese characters. And if the file is added to a playlist it does popup under the created playlist in SC UI.

I tested the same setting for SC under a Mac 10.4 and everything appears to be working perfectly

This problem only applicable to Windows-XP so far,

Problem tested and verified
Windows-XP
SC 7.2.1
iTunes 8.0
Sample file is attached

"This problem only applicable to Windows-XP so far" - does this mean no other Windows or Windows only, but not OSX?
Comment 3 Osama Zaidan 2008-10-01 11:13:21 UTC
This means we had tested this bug under Windows-XP only, we have not tested it under Windows Vista or any flavor of Linux

For MAC OSX, this problem does not exist, everything worked fine under a MAC 10.4.

What version of iTunes was installed on the XP & MAC systems?
Comment 5 Osama Zaidan 2008-10-03 10:16:47 UTC
Both have iTunes 8.0.

Michael: is this bug yours to address? assign back to QA if you need us to do research.
Comment 7 Michael Herger 2008-11-06 06:02:14 UTC
Osama - do you know what language version of Windows that client is using? Could you please paste the details from Settings/Status here?
Comment 8 Michael Herger 2008-11-06 09:18:55 UTC
This is very unlikely going to happen in 7.3.
Comment 9 Michael Herger 2008-11-06 23:41:54 UTC
This is actually a dupe of bug 7966. Please continue discussion in the other bug. Thanks.
