Description Jim Willsher 2008-09-30 04:18:11 UTC
Similar to bug 7190 but not quite as flexible.

Of all the track/title formats available for selection on the player (SB3 and Boom, I have both), the closest fit for my needs is:

TRACKNUM, TITLE from ALBUM by ARTIST

However, for Various Artists this is incorrect. For example I'm currently listening to:

Poison from Rock Anthems by Alice Cooper.

The is grammatically incorrect, since it suggests that I am listen to "Poison" from "Rock Anthems by Alice Cooper". For the grammar merchants amongst you, this is referred to as a "split infinitive" (sad, I know).

Instead, it should by

TRACKNUM, TITLE by ARTIST from ALBUM

This option covers Various Artists albums and also single-artist albums.

Many thanks.

the format you wish uses the standard elements, so you can always enter the format in server settings (in the blank field). It then becomes an option in player settings pulldown as well.

This, of course, is responding to the fact that you have flagged this bug as player UI. The controller (bug 7190 is in that group) formats are not currently configurable.

Blimey, can't believe I missed that. I knew I could put custom formats in the SC settings screen, and I knew I had fixed dropdowns in the player settings. But I didn't appreciate that the two were linked.

How embarrassing....

Thanks kdf :-)
